Three Men Found Not Guilty of Trafficking Over 115kg of Ice

Three men escaped the gallows after the High Court here today acquitted them on a drug trafficking charge.
YA Datuk Abdul Karim bin Abdul Jalil ordered Ikhwan Amir Bin Ab Rahim, MohdAzahan Bin Yusof, and Ng Soon Kuan, to be released after finding that the prosecution had failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt.
The three men were jointly charged under Section 39B (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act with trafficking in 115,374.5 gram of Methamphetamine at a parking lot of Tesco Extra Ampang at about 7.45am on January 21, 2018.
The drugs were found in the back of a red Toyota Hilux. Ikhwan and MohdAzahan were said to have alighted from the Hilux before the arrest.
Defence counsel for Ikhwan and MohdAzahan submit that the duo never set foot in the Hilux, and instead were in a white Alphard the whole time preceding the arrest. SP7, being thestar witness for the Prosecution testified that he could not positively identify the duo from a group of 8 person arrested from the scene.
19 witnesses were called throughout the trial, including 7 members of the public.
Ikhwan and MohdAzahan were represented by Counsels Dato’ Geethan Ram Vincent and Revin Kumar while Ng was represented by Counsel Alfred Egin.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Tuan Ahmad Naznin.
